Outer Vibe

Outer Vibe is the revival of rock and roll's classic power and free thinking soul. The high energy 5 piece group uses trumpet and keys to color their Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Chicago-inspired music. Their sound is an innovative take on rock music's most timeless elements, which pays tribute to the voice that screamed out in the 1960's and 70's for change and freedom. The Outer Vibe has independently recorded and produced 3 full-length albums, and has sold approximately 1500 CDs in the past year. They are currently gathering material for a fourth full length album.
The group is known to fill up to a 900-person capacity concert venue (i.e. Grand Rapids rock club staple, The Intersection). In just the last year The Outer Vibe has played over 50 shows within a 200-mile radius.  97.9 WGRD, Grand Rapids’ most listened-to rock station, selected...Read More

MacPodz

The Macpodz captivate music lovers with a kinky concoction of American tradition and world grooves. Their sound, called “Disco Bebop,” was conceived in early 2006 when the rhythm section applied a four-on-the-floor roller rink beat to a Charlie Parker standard.  The poet and social activist John Sinclair was integral to the formation of the Macpodz, as Jesse Clayton (keys), Brennan Andes (bass) and Nick Ayers (percussion) accompanied his spoken word performances in Ann Arbor, MI. The addition of Ross Huff (trumpet) and Griffin Bastian (drums) established the quintet.  The Macpodz wooed festival audiences at Rothbury, Bear Creek, Summer Camp, All Good, Moe.Down and Gathering of the Vibes. Building momentum in 2011, plans include the release of new recordings, tour stops in Colorado and California, and sets at several highly anticipated festivals, including the Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI.

The Blue Effect

The Blue Effect is the new sound of piano driven pop rock. Drawing on 60's influence pop rock, kicking keyboards, and sizzling saxophone thrown into their spicy sonic sauce, the Blue Effect has cooked up a sound unlike most mainstream bands. In just a short time, the band has built an enthusiastic fan base, with new fans lining up at every show. Forged in 2007, the band already has a full length album available on iTunes, a testament to their creative zeal and dedicated drive. They've already been a featured artist on Break Thru Radio (highlighting top college bands).
The Blue Effect has proven themselves at prestigious venues throughout Michigan such as the Crofoot Ballroom and Pike Room, the venerable Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, the Modern Exchange, and St. Andrews Hall, Detroit's hallowed hall of cutting edge music. On recent Midwest tours the band has taken it's stirring sound into the heart of Chicago and Indianapolis. The Blue Effect was honored to be featured performer on the Comcast stage at "Arts, Beats and Eats", Pontiac Michigan's premier music festival.
The Blue Effect has already proven their college-audience appeal with an unforgettable appearance at the Breslin Center at Michigan State University before 1,000 discerning music fans, and then proceeding to storm stages across the MSU campus.  In 2009 The Blue Effect became the winners of the MSU "Battle of the Bands".

The Banana Convention

A little bit of soul. A pinch of pop. A lot of rock. And an overabundance of fun. This is what the self proclaimed "circus rock" band, The Banana Convention, brings to every one of their performances; and it's what has kept their audiences from New York to Detroit to Los Angeles - and many stops in between - entertained and having fun over the last 4+ years.
Leading the pack on vocals is the extremely talented and equally as beautiful Shar "The Mighty Afrodytee" Molina. She can belt out her lead vocals with all the power and soul of the greatest singers of any genre. Her vocal range and energy keep the audience engaged and focused on her and on every sultry move.

Percussionist Monte Nothelfer shakes the meanest tambourine this side of Davy Jones, while backing up Afrodytee with his unique vocal style. Bassist Sean Drysdale keeps the funky flow while drummer Chris Howard's punk-like beats provide the high octane fuel that rocket the band into the stratosphere. Jake Voisine on guitar has been banned in several non-smoking establishments because his licks come so fast and furious that his guitar neck has been known to catch flame.

Stolen Silver

Stolen Silver is a 6 piece folk rock band from Chicago Illinois and Traverse City, MI, fronted by Levi Britton and Dan Myers.
Biography
Stolen Silver is the musical culmination of a decade-long friendship between songwriters Levi Britton and Dan Myers. It's a union that dates back to their days as roomates in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, one that entails a history as previous touring bandmates, collaborators, and, most importantly, singers. Their voices are instruments, effortless and vital to their mutual craft. On their ...
self-titled EP co-produced with John Ovnik, their styles swerve along a spectrum that spans from Indie-Folk to Americana, from Pop-Rock to more explorative soundtrack moments where the space in the songs are equally important to their narrative, undoubtedly due to Myer's work as a film composer. This new chapter takes them into unfamiliar territory both in the studio and on the stage, where ideas are fresh and nothing is left unattempted. Their sound is quickly evolving, as is their lineup. Since their initial vision of a folk duo, they've expanded to a full six-piece assembly, a determined collection of seasoned multi-instrumentalists and drummers. Half the band resides in Chicago while the other hails from Traverse City, Michigan- a circumstance that forces them out on the road yet leaves plenty of room for both immediacy and intimacy to take shape.

Still in their first year, praise continues to build. Their hard work has already taken them to headlining bills at LA's Hotel Café and Chicago's renowned venues Hideout and Schubas, where they hosted a month-long residency in February. They've earned the seal of approval from WXRT and WLUW Radio, WGN-TV, UR Chicago, the Tribune's Red Eye, and they've released a video for their single "Carbon Copy" while recently popping up in the tastemaker blogosphere. Spots in the audience become harder to snag as they continue to weave fresh material into their live shows, and the next year sees Stolen Silver touring while recording follow-up material that stands to build the perfect acoustic facade while expertly demolishing it, rising in it's place a structure of challenging hooks, golden-layered harmonies, and a latticework of electric guitars, keyboard atmospheres and percussive textures that still wouldn't be out of place with where they've come from. It shouldn't be long before the rest of America gets to watch this happen.

Bret Mitchell and the Giant GHOST

MI Singer/Songwriter, Brett Mitchell, 30, and his band, Brett Mitchell & the giant GHOST, are the buzz words in the Midwest. Brett, born (too late) and raised in Midland, picked up the sticks in his early teens & fell in love. Drumming professionally and touring by age 17 in a variety of bands, he began songwriting. To assist his writing, he taught himself guitar and by 2005 had recorded his debut album called {Stereo}, playing virtually all the instruments. One by one, musicians approached him to support his live performance & the giant GHOST, Brett’s talented and versatile backing band, was formed. In 2007, Brett released his 2nd project, Small House. His heartfelt & sincere songwriting and his appealing vocals, whether Brett’s singing lead from guitar or drums, are the draw and the live show is high energy and literally riveting. Brett’s 3rd album, Falling Apart At The Seams released 1-1-11 to rave reviews.

The giant GHOST:
Marko Musich - Electric Guitar
Bill Hall - Bass Guitar
Michael Cramton - Drummer (when Brett is on guitar), Back Up Vocals
Sara Eden - Occasional Lead and/or Back Up Vocals

The Dirty Americans

One of Michigan's top live acts, the Dirty Americans are dedicated to the heavy stoner riffs and workman-like raw vibe you can only find in one place...Detroit!.  Drawing inspiration from and playing with such legendary Michigan  rockers as the MC5, Iggy and the Stooges, Alice  Cooper, Ted Nugent ,  and Kid Rock (opening both massive northern michigan shows on Boyne Mountain)....the Dirty Americans cary a heavy torch!

Roadrunner Record's promotion of the first album Strange Generation produced by Paul Ebersold (Saliva/3 Doors Down) in 2004 generated a top 10 video in Japan and the UK, music on prime time TV (Alias) and songs in such playstation games as Wayne Gretzky Hockey, ATV3, American Chopper, and GT4.

Their success overseas led to major festival appearances around the world including  Japan's summer sonic festivals, Turino's Freefest with the Stooges, a Co-head liner with Jet at Festimad/Spain,  as well as Download Festival/Donnington,UK, Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park/Germany...all the while maintaining their do it yourself Motor City rebelious stance.

The new album "BLACK FEATHER is a self produced (JEFF PIPER/JEREMIAH PILBEAM) full length effort that was mixed by Tim Patalan (Sponge, Taproot) and features a cover of the Bob Seger System's "Lucifer" on which keyboardist Jimmie Bones (Kid Rock) appears.  More able to experiment since their break from Roadrunner Records, this is a darker and considerably more psychedelic effort...so dig out the headphones, turn it up, and tune out!
